Lloyd Green & Chely Wright-Listen!
From a Compilation called "The Other Side:Music From East Nashville" comes a fabulous tune by Chely Wright with an amazing l-o-n-g outro solo by Lloyd Green. The tune is "WISH ME AWAY" and is featured on Chely's MySpace page:

give it a listen I think you'll be glad you did!
Disclaimer: Last Train Home frontman Eric Brace is co-producer of the compilation. It is on Red Beet Records which is now the home of the Last Train Home catalog as well.

That's some of the nicest steel playing I've ever heard.
Thanks for turning us on, Dave

"that one tune won't play for me on any computer I've tried"
It's interesting to hear that it's not just me who can't listen to that Lloyd solo. That particular song never downloads on my computers, while the other songs do.
Gee, this is becoming really frustrating given the overwhelming reviews from the other guys.

yeah, she's only #20 in the "top 25 most beautiful people in Nashville"... maybe if she was in the top 10... I dunno.

Weird! It wouldn't play at all in Firefox. I got it to play just once in IE. After the one play it froze on "connecting". Oh well, at least I got to hear it once! Well worth the trouble--Beautiful!
[This message was edited by Brint Hannay on 13 October 2006 at 08:33 PM.]

Lloyd very graciously answered my question above via email. I asked his permission to post the information, as I knew there would be others who were also interested in the guitar, etc... that he used. He very kindly allowed me to post his response.
Here it is:

Since this Chely Wright song seems to have generated a little activity here's what I used:
My new Show-Pro, Fender Twin/15" JBL and one mike. That's all.
Best regards,
Lloyd Green

and from the second email, here is some additional info from Lloyd.

quote:
Yes, please post the information I sent you. My heart and first love will always be my Sho-Bud, but I really like this Show-Pro. It is the nearest to a Sho-Bud sound I've heard and it plays and records beautifully. For those who care about cosmetics it's elegantly pretty too.
On future recordings I'll be heard playing either my Sho-Bud or Show-Pro, but no other. For me, all steels become extremely personal and require "acquaintance" time. I'm starting to make friends with the Show-Pro now.
Besides, I'm far more interested in music than mechanics. I don't like to think about how the steel is performing, just the music.

So there you have it, straight from Mr. Lloyd Green himself.
Lem
