A corn ball little song by Art Gibson, dated 1949, will give you an in depth look at Jerry Byrd's early day playing. His TONE was already at a superior level and some of his signature sounds can be heard in their formative stages. This tune can be heard on Jerry's Music page of the Jerry Byrd Fan Club web site. Enjoy!

Ray, thanks for posting the tune. And thank goodness for Jerry's steel guitar to support Art Gibson's "no more records in the store"!
I have a question. Who are the vocalists on Jerry's beautiful rendition of "My Tane" that you have posted on "Jerry's music" page?

Thanks again, Ray!

A very special THANK YOU to Brad for always being kind enough to put in that all important LINK that I seem incapable of providing each and every time. I truly mean this Brad. You are a very special person.
In answer to the question about "My Tane".
That is the Anita Kerr Singers in Nashville.
She did a lot of work with her beautiful group. I believe she's now retired and in Switzerland but I could be wrong. She used to be on many of Red Foley's early, early Decca records. She did back-up choral work on many, many of the 1950's hit records. She, like Bob Nolan of the original Son's of the Pioneers, had a very unique and distinctive sounding voice. That, of course, was before all the upcoming recording artists elected to look alike and sound alike.
THANKS for the kind words.

What a delightful little tune...these are "fun" songs. And Jerry's playing is awesome, as usual!
