We did a gig at the VA Nursing Home near Land O Lakes Florida yesterday.
This is a beautiful facility and the old vets there seemed very happy with it. We started with gospel and then old country. Everyone really got with it. One old vet jumped out of his wheelchair and danced with our gal singer. I hope it is still in business when my time comes.
The VA may fall short in some areas, but this is definately a great facility.

Willis: Thanks so much for doing that for the veterans, they deserve everything we can do for them. I hope there are others out there doing these things where theres a a place nearby. Thanks again.

I sit in and play steel for a little band of retired pickers. We play a different nursing home a week. We've yet to come and start setting up, that the "crowd" is not already waiting in anticipation for us to start. Looking up from my steel and seeing the sheer joy on these beautiful people's faces is quite a paycheck.

When it's my time, and I'm on "that" side of the stage, my luck, I'll have a bunch of headbangin' death metal bands show up to entertain me! I can see it now----"Uh, We'd like to do another old classic Marilyn Manson tune we know you will enjoy!"

I just returned home from north Florida and we are booked into the Vets Nursing Home once a month from now on.We have had so many phone calls complimenting our performance. These are not recovering drug addicts or homeless folks. These are genuine American war heroes from the past.
They did request some patriotic songs and we will do more of that in the future.
I just hope there is a spot for me when my time comes..
