Jack; That's just the order in which I was told they were produced according to Shot! I only know for sure that I ordered my first Sho-Bud sight unseen on the word of Sonny Burnette in the summer of ’57. I spoke to Sonny at Sunset Park in West Grove, Pa. when he was there with Webb Pearce. He told me that Shot and Buddy were building a PSG in the style of the Bigsby, which had a long waiting~list, so; I just jumped right in and called Shot and placed my order. I had never seen one, because; they weren't yet into production. I ordered a D–8 with 5-Pedals. Bud Isaacs’ E9 and C6 with 3-Pedals. #3-Raising 2 & 6 from C to C#, #4-Lowering 4 from G to F# and #5 Lowering 5 from E to Eb. I would have probably received my guitar sometime between Sept. and Oct. of ’57. A single neck would have probably used a different set of S/N's, but; I never even thought about numbers at my age of 20-yrs. And I'm not sure if they were even numbering the earliest guitars! I only think of numbers now, because of my age! In all, I've owned about 13 or 14 Sho-Buds, up until ’79~’80. I have a picture of my first/second Sho-Bud, but; the picture was only taken after I had it converted to a D-9 w/6-pedals in ’60. Shot picked it up at Sunset Park in the Summer of ’60, while working there with Acuff!

Emmons and Day were the epitome of cool, according to these pictures. I can only imagine playing the pedal steel back then, when everything you did must have blown people away. It must have been like an instrument from outer space. The boys were pushing the boundaries and coming up with new stuff all the time. It must have been high adventure.

I think most of us old guys knew Jimmy and that guitar real well from those days. This is the guitar that Jimmy played the longest of any guitar he ever had, by far!
A 25 inch scale, no knees, double eight welded permanent. And he played it extremely well, for any era.

Oh, by the way, that IS Johnny Paycheck,

Interesting to see Jimmy's choice of amp at the time. No wonder he had great tone then.
