It looks like the steel guitarist nearly dropped his steel towards the end.
A lot of people confuse Hank III with Kid Rock because Hank Jr. announced that Kid Rock was his love child, and people took it seriously. |

I am a fan of III's.
Dont care for his other band (assjack)tho, and usually I like stuff like that.
Andy Gibson plays some real nice steel on the new album , (which is really good). |

Can someone explain to me what that cross over move is that the steel player does in the intro and about 2:40 into the song. Sounds like a Speedy West bar chatter thing, but I've never heard of a hand crossing technique before.
Thanks.

I sat in on Andy's steel one day at Robert's on Broadway and that is the way I do that bar chatter like Speedy used to do but I have always done it that way and he was amazed to see it played that way and now that is the way he does it so I don't know if I am responsable or not but Andy is a good friend and a good guy if you see him tell him Chubby say's hi,Chubby Howard |

Sorry guys, I still don't get it. Country music has enough sideshow freaks. That boy looks like he could stand to eat something and his self-destructive lifestyle doesn't add to the allure for me anyway. |

I wasn't either, but the steel work was ok and showed some technique that some might like.
The version he did years ago on Conan O'Brian was superb tho, as was the killer steelin' by Big Jim Murphy.
Wish that was on the 'Tube...
The one Larry posted, as well as the rest on 'Tube are better than CBlues and do a fine job representing today's 'country' music, which the vast majority of junk stars of the genre don't come close to.[This message was edited by Ron Whitfield on 08 August 2006 at 05:21 PM.] |
