Paul - John is from southern Illinois and plays a regular club gig there. You may want to contact Rich Mounce to get more information. I don't think he is on email. When I asked he gave me that look of - 'email? computers? uhhh, I'm not sure'.

You're right about his playing too. Man he blew the socks off everyone there! I did pass your message along to TC. He got a kick out of it but I couldn't get him on the radio.

Thanks for tuning in.

John is from the Mattoon area, south of Champaign on 57 about an hour. He is a great player and a great guy. I first met him in the late 70's or early 80's when he played for Pork and the Havanna Ducks. He and his brother have a band called the Sawyer Brothers Band. They play around the Southern Illinois area. He also plays a helluva guitar. Its great that he is participating in the steel shows. I hope Rich trys to get him at the Rosebowl show this fall.

I knew John would blow everyone away! I have loved his playing for a long time and as Bobby says such a great guy! I will try to get him to the Urbana show in Sep but he is one busy guy...Had to book him for this year's show almost a year ago! After everyone gets a chance to hear John there will be a lot of JOhn Sawyer fans...

I got my first listen to John this past weekend in Peoria and could not believe anyone could play like that and me not have ever heard his name....guess I don't get around much anymore, but I certainly hope to hear more from him....maybe we can get Scotty to put him on the Thursday nite set, not that he doesn't rate a mainline spot, but it would be a start....he certainly is a great player.

Russ...I have passed along your comments to John and I know he will be humble as he always is. I have said for ages that he is one of the most UNHEARD player around. I think he likes it that way...LOL...

Thanks again for making our show an outstanding venue. You sounded great. Just wondering though if Laney found out you sang yet...hehehehe...Stay in touch!
