Do U want to learn to Read Music?

Dan , I read music very well and have extensive knowledge about music theory having been trained that way in piano and jazz guitar. I do play strictly with tab on steel however. Frequently I try to figure out what the notes are on the music staff because it helps me to be more organized on the steel. Would your course be appropriate for me ?.If you think so count me in. Gene

Gene, you are at the point all you need to do is match your copedant to the treble clef for the most part. The easiest way to do that is write out your copedant, go to the eigth fret and write that out, then match it to the C tuning as you know open is concert C.

Dan-This sounds like a good thing you are offering to do for Steel Guitar. I know how important this can be, as it doesn't matter what copedent the player has, it will all work.

To be able to read notes on the treble cleff and find them on the individual tunings will be a step forward for many players.

Then to just hear a lick or song and find it on your guitar and play it, is the next step forward. I know from my experience, study and a little natural talent that your system should really work. Good luck....al

FWIW - the first lesson is interesting, introducing the staff...stuff I should have ingrained, but always skip ahead on in every book.

Dan's system is to NOT make everything available...you can't skip ahead - and that will force me to concentrate on the foundation that I really need. It also limits sensory overload, where the "book" has so much stuff you don't know what to do - so being experienced at *playing*, you start at the *middle*, and completely foul yourself up.

so far, I like the way i's being done.

I do appreciate the kind responce. My attempt is to do it on the level I didn't get in college. We covered so much in Music Theory class that I failed it the first time to be honest. They tried to force to much to quick without me understanding what was going on.
I like to get to the meat, but sometimes you miss the best tasting stuff by going to the meat.
