It's been brought to my attention that this thread might have been meant to be "more serious".

If it was, the serious thoughts I hoped it would bring out, maybe from more than one of us (all of us actually) that are facing a looming situation, is that we'd find out how much of our humor/love we wish to leave behind.

I wish that to be the most prominent thing actually.

What else do we have?

I certainly remember Jimmy Day thataway.

Under this stone lies Archibald Nic'
Whose playing made his darling wife sick.
But she had the last word,
remembered his password
and of you lot, she now has her pick.

mine would read like this
Here Lies.....
Georgie Porgie puddin' and pie
never could play steel,
so he laid down and died.
a man of great means,
so we are all told.....
he played by his wits,
in some dives and some holes.
had 8 on the floor,
and 5 on his knees...
12 strings on top,
11 more then he'd need.
BJS Bar, chrome picks on his hand,
an old Goodrich pedal,
how stately this man.
now...couldn't play like Emmons,
but none of them could...
his steel was sold....the party was good!

Wayne Morgan
Born Died
may 1946 June 2051
He was known to Steel a little, but he wasn't a thief.
Was killed instantly from a gunshot would by a 31 year old jelious husband.
He had a closed coffin service at the Black Jack Opry, due to the fact that the undertaker couldn't get the smile off his face. Buriel in dumpster out back.

Eric, hope you don't mind, I took the liberty of updating a portion of your obit
<SMALL>..cost of fuel being what it is, cremation plans were abandoned and his Earthly Remains were tossed into Sugar Creek, in the Paulina District of the Ochoco Nat Forest, on a sunny day, to eventually float to the ocean.</SMALL>

...kind of like a working class Viking funeral.

I guess for my own, I'd choose something like
<SMALL>Pat Burns...and it's nobody's fault but his own.</SMALL>

"Jim Sliff, age 102, passed away yesterday in a Torrance hospital from gunshot injuries suffered while exiting a second floor bedroom window of a Hermosa Beach home. No comment was made by the woman living in the house, but the husband was arrested and charged with murder shortly after the incident".

"Mr. Sliff spent 40 years in the coatings industry and periodically did consulting for an undisclosed southern California-based musical instrument conglomerate. He was a beginning pedal steel player at the time of his death. Funeral services have been delayed until an organist can be found who tunes ET."

"Headstone will read: "No Chops, but Great Tone". He will be interred in a casket surrounded by RCA Blackplate 6L6 tubes and an assortment of small pulleys and 1/16" wire rope with loop ends and turnbuckles."<font size="1" color="#8e236b"><p align="center">[This message was edited by Jim Sliff on 18 June 2006 at 07:28 AM.]</p></FONT>
