I just watched an episode of Benny Hill and the band played the Orange Blossom Special. They had many close-ups of the steel guitar player and also a fiddle player who played behind his back. Is it possible that the mystery steel player is a member of the Forum?

I remember that. He'd look up and smile whenever he did the train whistle.

The steel player did not resemble Lloyd Green. He was more heavy set with curly hair.

The sound tracks were Lloyd Green, he was never on camera, so whomever you "saw" had nothing to do with the sound track. Lloyd did four songs with Henery Strizlecky, Bob Moore, and the Nashville "A" team. Lloyd emailed me about seeing this thread and gave me the names of all the players, which I don't remember , and I'm not at my own computer at the moment or I'd post them.
I have known this for over 25 years. The tracks were sped up to add to the comedic effect. "Yakity Axe" was one that was used the most and Lloyd was paid and is still getting paid for these tracks being played.

Well guys, I'd take it as "that is that."

thanks Bobbe

And that explains why he was looking up. Wasn't playing!

This is a copy of the email I got from Lloyd on this subject.
Anyone not know how wonderful this guy is?

Bobbe,
Make a small correction in the Benny Hill post. I don't know who is on camera in the specific show, but it's not me. However, I did write, along with Glen Sutton, and record 4 of the tunes used in all of the Benny Hill shows. They were then speeded up to cartoon level for the comical effect. We recorded those songs at the old Quonset Hut Columbia Studio "B".
Other players I used on the tracks in addition to my steel were Bobby Thompson, banjo; Buddy Spicher, fiddle, Billy Sanford, guitar, Ray Edenton, rhythm guit., Buddy Harman, drums and Henry Strzelecki, bass.
I am amazed at the amount of money I've been paid over the decades for those four simple little songs written in a total of about 15 minutes. Far more than from any other recording in my career. After 3 or 4 decades the royalties are still in the four figure range each year, down from the five figures paid for the first 15 to 20 years.
That show has been, and continues to be, shown in the remotest parts of our planet.

Regards,
Lloyd Green

The steel player/actor that was shown resembled George "Goober" Lindsay from The Andy Griffith Show.
