For those of you who liked "The Waltz You Saved For Me" by Bud Issacs on his double neck Bigsby........give a listen to this version of the same tune on a Sho-Bud and do pay particular attention to the bar work and the rich fullness of the Diatonic Tuning that is in place. The bar moves up into the bar position as always but takes forever, it seems, to move down the neck away from the last position played. This is technique at its best. Always flowing and no breaks or stucatto in the bar movements.
WE'll see if I can take you there. If not, simply go thro' the Google Search Engine. Ok? http://www.jerrybyrdfanclub.com/Music/Waltz%20You%20Saved%20for%20Me.mp3
Keepin' my fingers crossed.

Months have passed but, I still have this track in rotation. Thanks for sharing it, Ray. And, thanks especially for pointing this out:

quote:

...takes forever, it seems, to move down the neck away from the last position played.

Its something I've heard in other great players but hearing an articulate description (with audio example) made it stick.

And, I've heard other great versions of this song by Buddy Charleton, Bud Isaacs, John Hughey, but this one besides the magnificence of Jerry Byrd, is a favorite because it has the melody with words.

another fine example of this tuning is currently featured in Kitty Wells song on Jerry Byrd's Fan Club..........Jerry's Music page. Jerry brought out the fine points in this tuning and made it all sound so simple.
Trying to accomplish this oneself is another story.
