Would all of you that have had good dealings with Bill, give a show of hands?

Thanks for all of your honest replies.

If this is the Bill Brown I have dealt with I can say that i think he is an honorable person. I have dealt with him several times and have had no problems. Jack

I don't know anything about Bill or either deal mentioned, but I DO believe I know b0b well enough to know that he wouldn't kick anyone off this forum for a couple of messed up pick orders!

Maybe Bill is just having some kind of trouble getting his computer to post here on the Forum. If b0b kicked someone for that, it would be the biggest surprise I've ever had regarding the Steel Guitar Forum.

If I remember correctly, Bill doesn't do e-mail-which of course these days can make things more difficult in doing business of this nature around the country.

That said, telephones still work where I come from. I purchased from Bill a virtually new in the case GFI Ultra S-10 Keyless last month for a very good price. He had underestimated by quite a bit the cost of packing and shipping by the store in his area, and asked me to pay the difference-with which I had no problem. He enclosed the store receipt for me.

And the store did an outstanding job of packing the guitar-opening it up upon arrival, it seemed to me that it could have withstood a nuclear blast!

I found Bill to very pleasant to deal with and a nice guy, we had a couple of good phone conversations. I would enjoy meeting him in person some day.

I saw a couple of the complaint posts, but that was not my experience at all with Mr. Brown.

Sure wish people would not go passing around nonsense like this. It accuses very fair minded people (b0b) of unfair practices. All you have to do is search for a post of Bill's and see that his status is "member". Not "unregistered". If one doesn't know how to use a computer, maybe one should either learn how or at the very least refrain from blaming someone else for a problem that does not exist. It's like people complaining when their inactive post falls down the list and off of the page. I am a victim! b0b erased my post!

I had several dealings with Bill and found him to be a very honorable guy and great to deal with. He posted here on the forum about his grand daughter being ill and was selling things to help defray medical expense. She did pass away unfortunately. I hope that Bill is still a forum member. I also think that he stops in at his library to log into the forum so he always leaves a phone number to call him direct and prefers that. He works full time running a pest control business.

Bill cannot post any messages. He is suspended. Yes, technically he is a member. But he can't post or reply.

I don't know the guy, but I agree that b0b would never purge somebody unless their is a really good reason.

My side of the story:

Two members complained that Bill hadn't sent them goods that they paid for. Both complaints happened in the same week.

I tried to email Bill and discovered that his email address was not valid. I closed his For Sale topic and his account, and waited to hear from him.

Eventually he sent me a letter asking why his account had been shut down. I sent him back a letter saying to look at the complaints in his ad. I also said that he can't sell things on the Forum unless he has a valid email address.

Bill called me yesterday to try and change my mind. I told him that if he could get the two complaints resolved and get himself a valid email address, I would reinstate him.

This petition drive here is, in my view, an attempt to circumvent the conditions I outlined to him on the phone. Bill says that he doesn't have a computer. He also says that he has to drive 30 miles to a public library to read the Forum, so he doesn't get online very often.

It seems to me that someone who doesn't own a computer or even have an email address should not be trying to sell things on the Internet. It makes it too hard to resolve conflicts (the very situation that we have here). An email address is a basic requirement of forum membership.

My apologies---I stand by my statement about b0b's fairness but I was clearly wrong about Bill's forum status and my snarl was out of line--even if I had been right, I suppose.

I am the "yahoo" that sent Bill Brown a $30 Money Order for 10 sets of National Picks and got 3 sets of Showcase 41s.

You need to get your information straight before you start something.

I was talking to Bill Brown on the phone when you made this last post, and he said you were not at his house, and he wants this BS stopped immediately.
He wants his name left out of it if you have to make up lies!

He and I have things worked out.

Bill called me and said all was worked out.
Turns out the 10.00 cash order was indeed from another Bob.
Bob Knight was right after all.
My apologies.

b0b, you may close if you like.
