Ollie Strong

Post by Jack Latimer »

I had a chance to catch Ollie Strong Saturday night playing with the band Steel Rail. What a great talent and that Fulawka sounds so good with him behind it. (Even when Ollie breaks a string he keeps his cool.) Watching someone like Ollie or any great player is good motivational fuel for a beginner like myself. However, playing in band myself almost every weekend prevents me from hearing other musicians, so with one night off it was so nice to just be on the other side of the stage to enjoy a pro like Ollie. Thanks for tunes and your time Ollie.
[This message was edited by Jack Latimer on 26 March 2006 at 08:05 AM.]

I get to pick with Ollie when he comes to Florida during February. He is a great talent and a great person.

Beside steel, Ollie is an excellent lead guitar and fiddle player.

Ollie, his wife Rae and singer Rod Snow are a great trio.

I'm lucky enough to be learning how to pick from him. He's my grandpa, and i get lessons whenever I see him.

Josh, if you have half his talent you're already on your way. Your grampa is great on that steel.
