This past weekend I attended the 5th annual steel jam in Wisconsin Rapids Wisconsin. This was the 2nd steel jam that I ever attended in my life. I don't get out much and there just isn't much for steel music in our area of Wisconsin. Well, I just have to tell you all how wonderful it was. I loved every minute of it. Russ Hicks and his beautiful wife Laney were there. Russ is an animal on steel, I swear I saw smoke coming from the strings. Everyone there was wonderful, not a bum steer in the lot. Mark Kruke (Wayne) was awesome. Craig Davison was too. Thank You Very Much Craig for you are the one who is responsible for putting this whole thing on, and it was the 5th annual one in Rapids. I am so looking forward to next year, it is the highlight of my year to go there. Thanks again Craig for keeping the steel guitar music alive in Wisconsin. It was just great. I also got to tell you the back up band, Roger Miller, Mark Kruke, the Fiddle Player and Drummer were all just awesome too. What a rush!!!! I can't wait until next year's show. I am still on cloud nine.

I was there for the weekend myself and have never attended a steel show before. I played at the open mike session Friday nite. I've never performed anywhere that had such a supportive crowd. My son is not a country fan and he thought it was great. It was a good experience for him to talk to some of the performers about different types of music. My whole family is hoping to be there again next year. |
