A great show in Dallas!
This was my first trip to Texas and won`t be the last.
I got to meet and talk to many players and steel forum members. It was nice to put a face to many of the people I have bought steel stuff from and also members that I only know by their names.
It was great to hear all players at the show. This was the first time I heard Reece Anderson and he was truly great. I also enjoyed Tommy Dodd`s playing and showmanship.
Buck Grantham was great too. I really liked his steel playing.
It was good to see and hear Ronnie Miller again - great Conway Twitty medley!
The rest of my heroes sounded very well.
One thing stood out at the show. Again, to hear Paul F…. well what can I say?
Man, even tho` I know his playing well this guy never stops to amaze me. He is still playing better each time I hear him. There`s just something about Paul`s playing that puts him AND the steel guitar were nobody has been before.
I was watching the audience under his performances and it was clear that Paul captured people from all ages with his playing. Most of us were stunned and I had to pinch my self in the arm to belive what I was hearing.
Paul took him self to the limit holding nothing back. It was clear that he had FUN on stage! That’s what playing is about. It was the fattest steel tone I have ever heard. Thanks Paul.
Also thanks to Albert Talley for offering me a spot on the show. I had nothing prepared so I asked for a raincheck.
It was good to see Fran Newman again too. She is very special to me and has a wonderful personality.
Good to see Mary and Scotty are doing well.
