I heard that Buddy Emmons was schedule to play with Johnny Bush on the ET Record Shop Midnight Jamboree this Saturday night. Johnny Bush is also scheduled to be performing in the DC area, I believe next month (March) with Buddy Charlton on hand for that event. |

Why isn't Herb doing this? He is Bush's steeler and is a full time pedal steeler.
Is Johnny not taking his band?

Steve,
A good question. I am not Herb and he can certainly answer for himself, and probably will, but I would hazard a guess that it is a simple “economic” thing. I know for a fact that Johnny does not always take the full band with him these days. It depends on what the gig pays and where it is. Times are tough; gigs don’t pay a lot nowadays here in Texas…or anyplace else for that matter! As Mr. Bush once said in a song, “It’s A Long Long Way From Tennessee To Texas”!
Unless the player just had money to burn, why would you want to spend $700 to go to Nashville…to make $250??!!

It's an economics thing. It costs too much to take a full band and I can't be gone that long anyway since I have gigs booked here in TX with other artists, as well as the TSGA Jamboree and SXSW to prepare for. I think Justin is going to be at those shows.
And besides, if you can get Buddies Emmons and Charleton, come on... let's be real here.

Herb is trying to be diplomatic but the truth of the matter is that I'm charging a whole lot less for a gig these days than he is. |

No chance, Ernie. If my chops don't get better, I'll be happy just to get through Johnny's one hour set. Besides, anybody that knows the pay scale for the Midnight Jamboree can relate to the lesser charge I was referring to. |

As the NTSGA produced a live video of Tommy and Lloyd in "An Evening of E9," how about producing a live video of Buddy and Tommy in "An Evening of C6?" Wouldn't that be something! |

Johnny Bush is playing at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Johnny is receiving a well deserved honor there and will play a few songs as well, not a whole set. It was supposed to be last September 2001, but 9/11 changed a lot of things and it was rescheduled for March 14. Buddy Charleton, who lives in the Wash DC area was contacted by Johnny and Charleton told him he would be happy to play for him. Johnny is so happy that in less than a week he will perform with Emmons and Charleton, 2 old and dear friends. |

B.E. I added 2 inches to the height of my seat and my hand quit going to sleep, (thumb pick quit falling off). It's worth a try.
I didn't see an e-mail address so I just put it on here. Sorry |

Randy,
I also found that elevating my sitting position eased a bit of the pain in my wrist during the last weeks of the Everly tour. I tried every over the counter pain reliever available plus Cellebrex and nothing has helped more than the combination of Glucasomine and oil capsules, with relief starting last September. I had been taking Glucosamine the best part of last year but there was still a lot of pain until I added the oils. Thanks and I deeply appreciate the thought.

Buddy, what kind of oil capsules are you taking?
My right thumb-wrist joint was worn out from osteoarthritis and I had it rebuilt last July. I'm back to playing again but the joint feels like it's stiffening up and I can't move it as much as shortly after the surgery. I will see the hand surgeon next week to see what he has to say. |

I take two each of fish, flaxseed and evening primrose oil per meal along with Glucosamine. The Glucosamine brand is Flex-A-Min and includes Chondroitin and MSM. It also worked for two of my musician friends, so we're batting a thousand so far. |

BE, I´m not a Doc nor is it any of my biz, but since you are talking abou taking "oils" and feel that it may have helped you, you might want to try a good Essencial Fatty Acids (EFA´s) complex (Flax oil is just one of these), that gives you a good ratio of Omega 3, 6 and 9´s. They´re available at GNC´s and The Vitamin Shoppe or online.
Glucosamine is great stuff too and I see a lot of people taking it at the gym...

Flax is what I should have said when I listed flaxseed. It and Glucosamine was the combination I started with in September. I added fish oil later and when I started feeling better, I was afraid to drop it. I'll probably taper off down the line, but right now I want to be as good as fortune will allow for that big one nighter I've got coming up. |

Just wanted to chime in on holistic health. Have a friend who is 84 and extremely healthy, had palsy in his hands from 60 till about 80. His use of chiropractic and accu-pressure massage has all but eliminated the palsy. Theory is that overall increase in blood circulation and loosening of tendons and muscles near the bone and joints helps in elimination of toxins that can work to poison areas of extremities, such as hands and feet. Also, I believe he ingests fish oil and other herbs.

I haven´t heard or read anything about any need to worry about dropping Essential Fatty Acids (EFA´s). Much to the contrary, they should indeed be part of a heathy diet and they won´t make you fat, if that´s your concern. Actually EFA´s may help your body to get rid of excess (bad) body fat.
Another thing I read a lot about is the over or mis-use of cooking oils (so popular in the US), which deteriorates at high temperature... and has nothing to do with EFA´s.
