I get to play along side Buddie every Tuesday Night, and he is one of the very best friends, and steel players there is.
I've always thought when someone goes out of their way to lend a hand when it's needed, that they are special folks. I was tickled to see Buddie stay behind his steel the other night,(after we were done playing) and share some of his vast knowledge with Wade Branch. Wade is learning, and "Eat Up " with steel guitar. He couldn't find a better guy to learn some stuff from, than Buddie Hrabal. |

Chuck,
Buddie Hrabal and Memory Lane have three great cassettes that they did a few years back and it is always my pleasure to play stuff from them on my "Swingin' West" radio show to share with the world. In addition, we can't forget that Buddie matriculated with Ray Price and the Cheorkee Cowboys. I've also used some of that live stuff.

Chuck,Buddy is my mentor (he just dont know it yet,haha)
That really made my day,to just be able to talk shop with Buddy the other night.You know every musician has a certain style or technique they like or would like to be able to play,and there is always a musician that you look up to,who has that style.Buddy Hrable has that style for me.I just feel fortunite that I dont just have to go out and buy a CD with him playing on it to get to hear him,I can actually go down to the Finish Line every tuesday night and watch,listen,talk and drink a Lone Star Beer with my mentor.Thanks again to Buddy Hrable and Chuck Cusimano for allowing a snotty nose kid to be a part of what you guys do.[This message was edited by Wade Branch on 02 February 2006 at 03:05 PM.] [This message was edited by Wade Branch on 02 February 2006 at 03:06 PM.] |

| As far as Buddies real name, I have seen Buddie answer to many names.....I'll find out what the REAL one is, but I always just say, "Awe..Buddie!" He really is a sweet guy, but he don't want anyone to know it, and he's a lot of fun to work with. |

Thanks guys for all the nice comments. I do enjoy what I play and anytime I play something that a steel player wants to know what I did I will take the time to show him or her. I am so lucky to get to work with the great musicians at the Finish Line. Thanks again

Buddie is a real jewel alright! I happen to be in Ft Worth awhile back and he invited me to come over to the club and give them a listen. WOW!!! Best time I've had in a long long time. Buddie was a real gent and looked out after me and mine the whole time I was there. Offered to let me sit in for him too, but I declined. A man's got to know his limitations!!!! Can't wait to get back there some day.

| Buddie is a fantastic player. I saw him and Tommy Roots several years ago in Ft.Worth where Steve Lamb had a music store. Tommy was burning up the C6th and watching Buddie and Tommy was a blast. |

| Buddie is a great player and I always looked forword to working with him in St.Louis. We haven't done that in a few years but need to. Buddie is a great guy and sings a heck of song also. Buddie has been one of my favorite players for years and I always enjoy getting to hear him play as well as sing. I got to fill in with his band "Memory Lane" several years ago at a steel guitar show in Tulsa, OK when Buddie had some health problems and couldn't make it. I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed getting to play with his great group. This may sound crazy, but when I was driving back home after the show, I was actually depressed as I never get to play the great Texas music in this area where I live in East Tennessee.
Anyhow, if you ever have a chance to hear Buddie, you owe it to yourself to hear him.
