Seymour, Pat Severs & I went to the Italian restaurant near Steel Guitar Nashville and had a ridiculous time! I wish everyone who plays the instrument could have the oppurtunity to visit as we did! Steel players have to be the nicest, most lovable, greatest "Breed" of musicians in the world. Hope everyone's doing well. Stu. |

Funny you should mention an Italian Restaurant. I've been working Tommy Cash's Florida tour this month and we had a Band Dinner last night at an Italian Restaurant in Brooksville, Fl.
We have 3 shows left on the tour (finish Sunday night) and then Tommy will be back in Hendersonville next week.
I underdstand Tommy is one of the board members of ROPE. |

Stu, some trivia:
When I came to Nashville with the family to see you back in '66, I stopped at Tootsie's and the barmaid gave me the address of Kitty Wells and Johnny Wright. We went over their house and was told you were on the road with Ray Price! Anyhow, we were invited in to have lunch and it was a nice afternoon talking mostly about you and Marsha, and country music in general.
I wonder how many of the big stars today would have any of us in for lunch? That kind of hospitality, I would imagine, is kind of rare today. |

Thank you Stu, you are a great one, now, we are having a birthday party for Howard White, (yes, the legendary Hank Snow, Hawkshaw and Cowboy Copus steel player)on the 25th of March at the store, this will be at two o'clock PM.
EVERYBODY is invited! Should be a lot of fun, it will be Lloyds's chance to "get even" with Howard for crashing his "Hall of Fame" party in Nashville! Ha!
Remember, everyone is invited! This means EVERYONE, near and far!
Should be some great playing, eating, joke telling and comeraderie.

Hi Stu,
There was a segment on John Altman tonight in the Oscars, and now seeing your post reminds me that you played on the Nashville soundtrack. I learned a signature lick from you from that record where you play (let's say) an F chord over the C chord in open position and then go down to the closed position (3rd fret) to resolve the C chord. I hope you'll know what i'm talking about, but probably few others will... At any rate, thanks! I know there's a lot of mixed feelings about that movie, but it's certainly more palatable now than it was at the time.[This message was edited by Joe Goldmark on 05 March 2006 at 10:04 PM.] |
