Nashville Superpickers
Does anyone out there have a video tape of the Nashville Superpickers show from Austin City Limits? I would love to get a copy of that. I tried to e-mail someone at Austin City Limits, and never received a response.

PBS used to make tapes of these shows available, but I guess the licensing problems got to be too much of a hassle. ACL performances have time limits on their broadcast, rebroadcasts, and reproduction sales. I guess that monitoring all of that, coupled with the recent format change (from VHS to DVD), got to be too much for a non-profit organization.
However...
Feel free to inquire again after the rights expire. For the '79 "Super Pickers" episode, that would be in about the year 2074.

I just checked out the PBS Austin City Limits website (also check out livefrom austintx.com) Looks like they've partnered with New West Records to release selected episodes of Austin City Limits on DVD. There's 7 available now. Unfortunately for us, with 500 episodes to choose from, I'm guessing Nashville Superpickers is a ways down the list.

Charles, I hooked up with an old friend last Sunday evening at a the New Riders show outside of Phila. He told me that I let him borrow an album 25 years ago, but he could not remember who it was. Turns out it is a Phil Baugh album, with Phil on the cover with his pedal contraption for the guitar. Can't wait to get it back and have a copy of it put onto a cd!!!
