Did you see the Fender steel king on the floor? Gaylon chimed in one time on a post about the placement of amps. No more chair or tilting for me as this placement gives me a better idea of where the steel is in the on stage mix.

I caught the show as well and have to say I was very impressed to see Gretchen do some very nice vocals. Has a much sweeter voice than I thought at first. Gaylon sounded very good as well( no surprise there! )
and the sound comming out of that Steelking made me glad to have one of my own!

I saw Gaylon about 3 weeks ago in Montgomery and he was on a Rains. He said he had just recently got it. The taping of ACL probably was taken a few months ago. I don't think it matters, Gaylon is such a talented multi-instrumentalist, He'd sound good playing anything. Back In December I met some of the other guys in Gretchen's band and a person couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of guys. I'm sure they all love thier job.

I'm going to check my TV guide to see if I can even get any PBS stations. I sure would like to see it.

Hey Stu... I played my SuperPro through Boo's Steel King, and it sounded great. Best spring reverb I've heard in an amp.

Spent a little time with Gaylon when he was hear a while ago......cant remember how long.....told me Steel King was real great..........also said that he may be getting GFI ...but as he is a pretty large Gentleman it would need a few custom adjustments made to it.
I just played a Gretchen CD in my car yesterday....Man !!!! can she belt it out !!!!

Well, I'm glad some of you got to see the show. I haven't seen it and don't know if I'll get to. The only PBS station that my local cable company carries isn't showing that episode. Go figure. Anyway, thanks for the compliments.

I caught the re-run last night here in Austin, and it was a good show. Gaylon got more camera time than I had seen a steel player get in a long time. The rest of the band sounded really good too.

thanks for making me aware of this episode. i now have it programmed into my fancy digital cable box/recorder thingy. so i'll be able to snag that when it airs as a repeat, and in High Def to boot!

if i ever figure out a way to record the stuff i "TiVo" to DVD, i may be able to get copies to folks that miss out. i also have that Ryan Adams episode with Graboff's steel playing, which is great.

so lemme see what i can do, and meanwhile, if any AV Club types know what i need to do to make dupes, lemme know. and i won't tell the cable company (although they're probably already reading this! ... Image )

regards,
mike
