TSGA Jamboree 2006

Post by David Hartley »

I will see you all there. I am coming to the USA for the first time with my girlfriend Fran. I can't wait! Yee Haw! Will need plenty of info from anyone we meet with reference to what we can do and see the week after the TSGA Jam as we are coming for 2 weeks. Want to see lots of live music and have a pick on my new Rains with a Jam band somewhere..We are so exited...!!!

David, Right there in Grapevine Texas are the Gaylord Complex and Bass pro Shops Outdoor World. About a 5-10 min. cab ride if you choose, from the TSGA show. I hear Pearls in Fort Worth is a good place to hear some good pickin'. You and yours will have a great time! Enjoy!

Hi David,
I think the South by South West music Festival in Austin, Texas starts just after the Dallas show finishes.

Hi David

There are quite a number of us coming from England, Scotland and Ireland so you will have plenty of people to talk to. This will be my 6th year.

I usually stay in Forth Worth which is about 30 mileas away and go to BillyBobs honky tonk after the steel show - there is usually some big name act on.

As far as I know, South by South West is on the week after the show in Austin - Alan Cook from Stockport is over there playing.

Make sure that you say hello.

I usually see Clive at the St. Louis convention and would like to invite our friends from the U.K. to drop by and say 'hello'. I would like to meet you and 'talk shop' with you.

Hi Tony -- great, sounds like I will need to pace myself, I've tried keeping up with Warren before (drinking beer) - and failed miserably.

Hi again..Everything booked..Hotel down the road, car, billy bobs on 17th and 18th too..Maybe a trip to southfork and amarillo if we can fit it in...need a good close hotel/motel near billy bobs, any ideas??.. the stockyards looks too up market and far too expensive...I need somewhere walking distance or a short cab ride away?? Thanks tony s. for your comments, i haven't forgot about sending you some recordings...your address is still on my cork board.. doing a lot of recording at the moment..perhaps i should put some on CD..I will still keep the day job though..20 years with coca cola this june!! I like the regular income, and keeping gigs on my doorstep! I will be in the beer drinking competition if there is one at the bar! See you all there..

Beer.... did someone say beer? Now ya talking!! Something I know something about being a home brewer....

Those folks coming to the Dallas/Fort Worth area --- you are in luck. We do have some great watering holes for you to check out -- places that serve beer (not that waterery "light" stuff)....

Dallas. Gingerman is my favorite!! 100 beers on tap - sure to find one from your home country. A couple of Brew Pubs - establishments that make their own beer plus have a good food menu -- there are some in Dallas. The "Flying Saucer" one is in North Dallas; one in Fort Worth -- have a LOT of brews on tap. Also a lot of places that have great beer and good food as well.. Check out this site:
http://www.realbeer.com/destinations/index.php

Good search engine that will help locate great places to enjoy a cold one and have a nice meal, too.

First round on me (but I'll not be at the show... bummer)

Hi again Dave

I stay at the Stockyards Hotel - central, but a bit expensive.

However, try the Country Inn & Suites - just a short cab ride away.- Tel 817 831 9200

Hi again Dave

Just seen that Dwight Yoakam is on at BillyBobs on Sat 11th - now that leaves me with a dilema! Stay at the Harvey and watch Paul and Sarah or rush back to Fort Worth to see Dwight? Will he have a steel player -anyone know?

Well when Dwight was here a few years ago he didnt have a steel..and I was so Dissappointed...had on his leather pants and a different guitar for every song......must all be cheap ones that go out of tune after one song !!!!!
Still a great Show

Hi Paddy

According to the TSGA schedule it is:

8-40pm John Hughey, 9-20pm Paul Franklin, 10pm Sarah Jory, 10-40pm Terry Bethel, 11-20pm Joe Wright.

My experience of BillyBobs is that the show starts at 10-30pm prompt.

Steel Guitar??? I thought this was a beer festival heh heh! Looking forward to `sinking a few` with you guys, although I dont think I could keep up with Allan. He is from the Highlands, and beer runs in the streams up there!! (whisky too apparently) ^^

Clive -- seems there might be a clash, never mind, do they let you in to BillyBobs late ?? or do they close the doors before the show ?
