Finally got me a D-10.
Met Tommy Killen back in April at the George Jones concert in Myrtle Beach.
Purchased another boatload of training materials.
Figured out what the C pedal was for (finally!).

I made it safely to every gig and show, and made it home safely...

I bought two Steels, sold one..

I started the year with two amps, ended with 4..

I started the year with 5 Telecasters, ended with 2.

I have no more spare sets of strings..

I practiced a WHOLE lot and I have been told it shows...which only makes me think..what did I sound like before I practiced alot ?

The band has some pretty good gigs on regular rotation..

I did a session for a friend and his tune with me playing Steel is one of the more popular tunes on Garageband .com. http://www.garageband.com/artist/amy7/songs

My buddy Joe Smith and I finally got together this year,but barely made it in time....it was like Dec 20th or something like that...we're gonna shoot for June next year !

I hope this year is at least as good as last year..

most of all I hope everyone here stays healthy and happy this year..and gets lots more gear too..

1) Got my new GFI from Bobbe
2) Played first gig in 10 years
(after 20+ years as pro steeler)
3) Became reaquainted with steeler Tom Palmer
and due to his great kindness, looks like I'll be playing regularly now with Joe Slick & the American River Band.

Thanks to bOb, Bobbe, Tom and everyone in this great forum.

Wow, Johnny, what a list!

Well, my highlight has to to be playing C6 tunes at an outdoor wedding (Stardust, Crazy, etc.) and having people dance BEFORE the ceremony. Not that I'm a genius at C6, but I've been playing weddings for 25 years and that was a first.

'05 has been a good year over all for me.

The band i play with Last Train Home had a CBS network TV appearance and I got camera time for my solo.

We also released our fourth independent CD to good reviews.

I got to open a show for (and to meet and help out with an equipment loan) my personal steel guitar hero Rusty Young. If I had not heard POCO's first album at a party in my youth I would not be a pedal steel guitarist today. To be at the point of sharing the stage with the man is a personal highlight not of just the year but my life.

Not steel related but music related: I bought my first Telecaster and am fullfilling the desire I have had since I was 10 to learn to play guitar. (I Kinda got sidetracked into this PSG thing

And I am blessed with the smartest, funniest, most amazing 8 year old son on the planet, and his mother the most patient, smart and funny woman I know.

2005 Got me back into Pedal steel guitar after a 4 year break that I spent just palying Lap and Dobro. Then I got my first Emmons Lagrande D-10 and low and behold I could play so much better then before because of the time I put into non-pedal, better bar feel for sure. Also getting back on the forum and meeting new friends who always help a younger cat out no matter how dumb some of my questions. HAPPY NEW YEAR !

not in order:

1) Putting together a band of pedal steel, accordian, bass and vocal, playing Bacharach, Beach Boys Pet Sounds, Beatles, Al Green, Ray Price etc. for a coffeehouse gig-my first all pedal steel gig. Feeling "somewhat comfortable" on both necks. Not falling on my face. (Not having a room full of steel players helped with the nerves!)

1) Having my Zum Hybrid arrive just before the holidays. Managing to hang with my family instead of playing 15 hours a day.

Meeting (on the phone) the super-nice Scottish gentleman who started this thread.

Getting a '65 wraparound P/P

Firing up one of Brad's Revelation Preamps

Playing on two very cool music sessions.

Having my 12 year old son ask to borrow a CD I played on and having him tell my wife "Dad sounds amazing on this, do you think he'll teach me to play steel?"

Witnessing the aforementioned tribute to the great Hal Rugg at the ISGA

Hearing the incomparable Paul F play live two weeks in a row for the second year in a row

Hanging out on the Steel Guitar Forum and enjoying every minute of it.

I would have to say...a real highlight and spirit booster is being able to form a close friendship with the likes of John Hughey, Junior Knight, our own Ricky Davis, Johnny Cox (and Joan), Bobby Bowman (who incidently made my Steel), Ralph Mooney, and Ron Elliott. These folks are the "Steel Guitar Gods" so to speak and that is one thing to be able to have met them but to call them your friends, well that is something entirely different. I for one cosider it a true Honor and privilage.

It would have to be New Years Eve gig ..Steel only didnt need keys( I double)
payed 300 for 4 hrs, one hour was a comic at Pocmont Resort near Bushkill Pa
Rosie was very happy Ernie! Bill in the Poconos of Pa.
