i have been using both dunlop and national picks since i started but today i got some show case 1941s and a zookie thumb pick and it seems to me i get a clearer tone from them , is it just in my own head ? or do they make a real differance ? i suffer from flaping arm syndrome. my arm always wamts to fly up when i catch the 10 string ( i know i've been working hard to improve that ) but the zookie makes catching the 10th string less hard .
i'm sure a lot of you have used these. whats your take on them

The Showcase 1941's are brighter than the Dunlop's. I've been using Dunlop's for years but bought some 1941's a couple years ago and they are brighter. They are supposed to be the same material compound as the original National's.

Speaking of National's, I bought some new National NP2's that are supposed to be the same compound as the original National's. They are about the same as the 1941's (but cheaper) and I like the fit and feel of those better than the 1941's.

They are available here (cheapest place I found and cheapest palce I found for the 1941's too). http://www.bluegrasscenter.com/finpiks.html

i just had to ask myself , am i really hearing a differance ? the strings just sounded cleaner . i was somewhat suprised that a pick would make a differance in the sound..i know we all have our own referances so i am not advocating one over any other

I use Nationals or Jeffrans with a Zookie thumb pick. It's what sounds best to me.

Dunlop,National and other manufactors use different kinds of compounds.
Not only the compound gives you a different kind of sound but the thicknes of the pick does that as well.

Bob on your zookies, what degree of offset do you use . i got the ones with 30 degree offset it seems a good fit for me
i think the zookies are one of those things a person will love or hate and wont know till they try it
