I started fire fighting in 58, in Tucson AZ , In
Air Tankers and did 10 years in first response
Moving crews in the lower 48 and Alaska for
The Boise Interagency Fire center until 79 .
and then back to the Tanker business in
Mosses Lake Wa. with Slafco , Supper PBY
scoopers , give it all up in the 90's
You sure paid your dues Bob. If you ever worked fires on the Willamette NF or the Umpqua NF, we probably crossed flight paths.
Somthing about this business that gets in your blood. ( a little like playing this crazy pedal steel). I am at that age where I'll be hanging it up soon.
How many of ya ever got to do this? As an Engineer with Bakersfield City Fire this was something I always thought of doin to some bonehead blocking a hydrant.

Andy,thank you,
here in germany the "slogan" for (all) firefighters is:
"God to honours, the next to protect"
May be, this is valid to all firefighters around the world. And for all people, who are not firefighters...hope so...
