Richard. This is the best place on the net for a player just starting out! You won't believe the experience that is represented here on the Steel Forum. I feel like a begginner myself, even though I have played music for a living all my life I had not worked out anything for the Leavitt tuning until these two songs. Everybody starts somewhere!
You are right about the solo guitar. When you play solo, you are forced to work up things of interest and also your technique is totally exposed. That is one of the good things about this tuning is the way you can play nice full chordal things and have the diminished chords to help you connect passages.
[This message was edited by Bill Hatcher on 11 November 2005 at 09:05 PM.]

Bill,
I noticed you said Roy was working on a tab for Hawaiian Wedding Song Fantasy. Anyone tabbing this ? Maybe you and Roy should do a Leavitt book and CD.
I hope so anyway !!!!!!
Can someone send me Roy's take I can't download it. Same with Roy's FoolinAround.mp3 man I'm so upset I can't hear that.

Roy;
Just catching up here! My 10-str. C-Diatonic Tuning is as follows from Lo to Hi: G–A–C–E–F–G–A–B–C–E So, you can see what (3) of my changes will give me: [F]–A–[C#]–E–F–G–[Bb]–(*C#)–[D] I'll have to work around the *C# on the 2nd. str. by releasing the change temporarily on occasions. I expect great results from this setup! Although my playing might not be near as great as yours!

If I wish to, I can just back-off on the nylon~tuner, thus cancelling the C# on the 2nd. or add another knee~lever to Lower it, after Raising it! (Just thinking out loud!) That would work too!

I also think that if I study a little more, I might find the necesary combinations within the ‘Basic’ C-Diatonic~Tuning! I used to play the Dia.~Tuning on the C6 Setup on past guitars by Lowering the 2nd to (B) and Raising the 5th to (F) intermittently! (Seperately) That gave me the 7-str. tuning on only 5-strings! It was very hard to tell any of the changes with the correct timing! I have lots of sample-tunes on cassette~tape since ’88.
