This has nothing to do with steel guitar at all !! This is from a rap song by Snoop dogg that has been covered very well by country band The Gourds . I just wondered if anyone knew what they were talking about ? I imagine it refers to substance smoking {dope} but maybe it means something else completly.
By the way if you look at this song on limewire you will notice many versions but I think they are all either snoop dogg or the Gourds .

Whatever you say, man-but there is a place here for this kind of stuff, under the category of "Music."

Sorry Mark,Not anything even remotely associated with snoop dogg should be in ANY [MUSIC]section. Maybe a MU-SICK section.

I have seen The Gourds perform twice, and their version of that song is great! Don't knock it until you hear it.

The second time they had Jon Dee Graham sitting in on lap steel. That dude can growl!

Now we're back on-topic .

According to Wikipedia, the term "indo" refers to marijuana grown indoors (or in Indonesia).

Thanks for the replies . Indoors or Indonesian seems to fit.Agreed that the Gourds are very good , some people liken their sound to The Band and I can hear some of that .

I don't speak jive, but this honky I worked with told me indo was short for indica, as in cannabis indica. He waxed lyrical about its virtues, saying that the NA versions were sativa whereas the east asian (indo chinish?) versions were indica. I'm the straight man in the group so I wouldn't know.

Whatever else, Kevin doing his best hick Texas twang while melodically singing a rap song is as musically enjoyable as it is hilarious. Much funnier than Hayseed Dixie. Again, check it out.

Charlie

Edited to note that I don't diss Hayseed Dixie, that's some righteous dobro on Hell's Bells, but The Gourds Gin & Juice defined the style.

You can download the song, the video, and some more Gourds stuff at http://www.thegourds.com/videos.html , or at least you can when their yahoo file site is working, which is to say, not right now.
