| Charlie Archer is Loretta Lynn's steel player. He's been on the road with her for awhile now and before he started playing steel for Loretta, he was Conway Twitty's lead guitarist. Charlie plays Emmons and GFI steels. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10 |

Thanks Brett, I remember Charlie from Ada, Ok. back in the 60's when he would play on a local country music show. I lost his trail after Conway Twitty. Thanks so much for the update.

| Would that be the same Charlie Archer that played steel for Bobby Albright ( Bigger'n Dallas) in Lubbock Texas back in 1973/74? What a monster! Nice guy too. He wouldn't remember me, because I was brand new to the music world and Lubbock at the time. Charlie, If you're out there hi again from the OLD days. |

| Bigger N Dallas? What a club. I don't think it was the same Charlie as this Charlie was on the road with Twitty back in those days. I played steel at the club during those years also with Curly Cook and Al Brumley. Great club, tough owner though. |

I seem to remember the Charlie Archer I met a couple times went to work for Conway. I think he went with Twitty as a guitar player, but he played steel for Bobby Albright. A few years later, I worked there (Bigger 'n Dallas)with my own group a couple of times, but that was after James Whitt (the owner) was killed by an employee. The night that happened, I was working at the "Cow Palace" with The Donna Harris Show, and we were told we could go home early because of the killing.
On another occasion, I walked in the Bigger 'n Dallas club only to recognize an old Navy buddy playing Steel guitar for Bobby Albright. (that was after charlie Archer went with Conway) The feller was looking at his steel, and I walked up, and just looked st him until he looked up. It was a grand re-union. He has passed on about three years ago. His name was Harold Aiken. Great player, and harmony singer. |
