Happy 2006 From this new player

Post by David C. Wright »

I'm the David Wright with the "C" in the middle. I'm new to this forum and to the PSG. Just want to say hello to all you guys, and thank you in advance for the help I get from all of you. I got my GFI from Bobbe, and my Evans from Autry, working on my ability, I kinda suck right now, but I'm getting better with the help from all of you guys. You steelers are so cool, I love the spirit of this whole PSG thing. Thank you so much.

Donna, I wonder if the word "babysits" is some new PSG term that I should know about. Will it help my tone, or is it a speedpicking secret? I've heard the other David Wright play, and if he knows it, maybe it can help me.

Welcome David. Since you are new to the pedal steel you might be interested in something happenning on the 5th of February 2006 in Atlanta. The Northwest Georgia Steel Guitar Show will be held at the Yaarab Shrine Temple. John Hughey, Herby Wallace, Randy Beavers and Mark Van Allen have committed to be there. There will also be other steel players from Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama and North and South Carolina. If you go to the events section of the forum there are directions to the Yaarab Temple. The Ga Steel Guitar Association (www.georgiasteelguitar.com) web site has a map.
Take care and have a Happy New Year! Remember, "Thou shall not steel!"

Thanks for the info Frank, I would love to come down there. Not sure if I can work it into my schedule, but I will try. And to all who have welcomed me, thank you.

David C., The other David made a good babysitter last year for Austin & Jonathan when we were at the Mesa show. He showed them a few things on the steel while he was at it. If you don't know who Austin & Jonathan are they are to young steel players. Austin is 11 & Jonathan should be about 14 or 15 now. Both boys are coming on strong. Although since Austin is my grandson I guess you could say I am a little predious. Donna

Donna, I have grandsons so I guess I could babysit, but in my case, maybe Austin and Jonathan could show me some stuff on the steel. If they're like my boys, they have a lot to teach us. You know, our grandchildren are the smartest kids in the world. Hope to get out to California soon and meet the "other" David. Happy New Year

David, I also welcome you to the confusing world of PSG. After what you suffered through last night listening to my fumbling picking, you should bypass me in no time. And again, I welcome you to come back every chance you get.
