Yes nice job of Mr. McDonald setting the record straight
and even atributing comments to the players who gave them.
I wouldn't be surprised he does go out
and check out more steel based musics.

I really thing RR can play MUCH better
than what
he does in his highly successful "day gig".

If he never played an AB crying lick,
he would still be playing well, and he will expand in time.

it would be blindingly stupid to change style now, since this one is a winner.
And certainly not to please the disgruntled amoungs US.
( postmen steelers in a huff, hide the m-16s)

Some one said he couldn't learn 1/10 of what
our forum idols can play, with 2 years practice.

What hyperbole...
From the chops I have seen, if he WANTED to
apply those chops to other steel styles,
he would mop the floor with most of us.

And with 2 years of woodsheding,
he could be doing ANYTHING he wanted to. He has the control, cleaness and the intonation NOW.
I have no doubt he knows what his pedals do, and does use them.

But the operative phrase here's
"...HE wanted to."

I'm closing this now, as the "scrap heap" comment has been resolved and topic drift has been extensive.
