Timeless
At the risk of seeming redundant, I must say, this album is the real deal! I have always thought that Martina was an excellent vocalist but didn't care for a lot of the material that was sent her way. This is different, every tune on this album is great! All eighteen of them!

I also found this a refreshing CD. I have played it quite a few times, and have allowed others to listen to it. Everyone seemed to enjoy it.
I find that this CD is a great one to listen to, and to sing along with. I know all the tunes.
I talked to Paul in Dallas in March, and he mentioned his playing on this CD, and how good it was. I will say that he did not steer me wrong. I hope others will get this one and request that their local radio stations keep playing it over and over again.

I've been calling the request lines at radio stations too.
"Timeless" is #3 in Country sales. Let's get out and buy it for Christmas presents. #1 would be nice and might send a message!
[This message was edited by Theresa Galbraith on 27 October 2005 at 04:57 AM.]

I was in Target yesterday and saw another Timeless CD with four extra tracks on it.
Dreaming My Dreams
Cryin' Time
Walk On By
Take These Chains From My Heart
The bonus tracks are excellent as well!
This is the finest album I have ever listened to. Tonight I am going to watch the video that came with it. "The Making Of Timeless"
Martina also proves once and for all that you don't have to be a drop dead gorgeous babe to have a successful country album! LMAO!

Theresa,
On Martinas website it says the album is now #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums Chart and #3 on Billboards 200 All Genre Albums Chart behind Ashley Simpson and Rod Stewart.
I have been playing it a lot at work and a lot of people come in and ask who it is and want to know where they can they grab a copy. Great album!

Thanks for pointing this out. She's always been one of our favorites and we just haven't had a chance to buy it yet. I'll have to do that this weekend.
John D. - I'm glad you included the "LMAO" because I'm so gullible I was almost going to ask you what planet you were from.
Can't wait to hear Paul Franklin. I'll have to try Target for the 4 extra tracks also.

Robert,
Definitely hold out for the one with the extra tracks if you can, her rendition of Dreaming My Dreams is the best I've heard.
Glad you got the joke. Seriously though, Martina could sing the phone book to me and I would be totally mezmerized by it.
All of the artists involved with this project are top notch and Paul Franklin as usual is right at the top of his game.

Absolutely.
I did pick up the CD with the extra tracks yesterday. Played it through once and thought it was everything you guys have been saying. I can see where those with a taste for more Classic Country would love it. But also, it's so undeniably great, that anyone with half an ear should be blown away by it.

Marlin,
Actually, all mikes used were made before 1968 except three. According to the liner, no guitars or amps were used that were made after 1965, all were made before. The exception of course would be Pauls guitars, not sure about his Dobro.
I am curious as to what amps Paul used, maybe if he sees these posts he could jump in and enlighten us.

Timeless should be a boon for fans of traditional country, and not just for the great music. I guarantee that the powers that be in Nashville are watching Martina's success, thinking "maybe its time to get that traditional sound going again."
I'm buying it just to cast my "vote" for the kind of country I prefer. Like Theresa Galbraith said, it will help send a message. Nothing speaks to the Nashville brain trust like hard cold cash.
[This message was edited by Al Carmichael on 30 October 2005 at 07:17 PM.]

Marlin,
I know what you mean, I had to whip out a magnifying glass to read them myself! And yes, the liner notes were interesting.
If you get a chance watch the DVD "The Making Of Timeless". It is a must for any Martina fan.
While watching the DVD it became very apparent that she was with child throughout the project, but it didn't seem slow her down any!

In addition to Pauls fine Steel work, STEVE GIBSON did a fine, fine job on lead guitar ..it is very Leon Rhodes-esque. I think he mainly used a 335 and a Tele.
I would love to have Steve's E mail address if anyone would like to send it to me. Steve and I are from the same home town ..I met him in Nashville about 20 yrs ago...would like to write to him.
Thanks!

Ok, I know I'm slow to the draw here but I just finished listening to this CD while scanning the forum. All I can say is WOW!! I haven't heard anything like this in a long time!!
Martina did as good on the production as she did on the singing & song selection! I can honestly say that I didn't think she had it in her but she has really made a keeper here!!
Of course Paul and all the other musicians did a great job!! Again, this is the best thing to come out of Nashville in a long, long time!! At least by a major artist anyway.

C.C.,
You deserved that! I doubt Martinas style was cramped at all by being pregnant.
I guess we won't know until she cuts another album.
If you would like to hear what this woman is really capable of, check out the Christmas Album, "Mother And Child" - various artists. She sings Oh, Holy Night on it. What a set of lungs!
Congratulations on the Great Grandchild!
