Vintage Parts
I have an old 50s National Dynamic (6) lap steel. I have been using it lately at live shows. The case was in poor shape. This past weekend, I was walking into the venue holding the case by the handle instead of hugging the case under my arm. The case opened as I opened the door to the building... the steel fell, face first, onto the concrete. Everything is fine, with the exception of the plastic bridge/pickup cover. The bottom line of all this explanation, does anyone on here know of a vintage guitar parts place that may have one of these covers? Thanx!

Hi Louie. Does it look like this pickup cover?
If so and you find a source for them let me know. I've got another guitar with the same cover that needs to be replaced also. If I find a source I'll let you know too.

My steel looks exactly like Brad's http://www.well.com/user/wellvis/steels/National/NationalDynamic.JPG
except my bridge cover is broken and the tuners have been replaced.

Louie,
As many as Valco made, one's sure to pop up. But, in the event it doesn't, you can easily make one. My '42 New Yorker has a similiar cover. Flip it over and you can see that it's actually made from 3 pieces of wood glued together and painted black. I would guess the later ones were made out of plastic along with the fretboard to save time/money.
Adios,
Brett
