I hooked up with Danny Sneed and Mike Smith yesterday to go spend some time with Terry while he was in town at one of the Casino's with Mel Tillis.
Boy did they ever put on a show, eleven members in the band and Terry played his hinny off, great twin parts and super tight.
On top of that we had some great Mexican food taboot.
All and we all had a great visit with Terry and looking forward to seeing him again hopefully in January.

One of my favorite things in the world to do is visit with Terry. Getting to visit with Terry while I was in Branson is WITHOUT A DOUBT the thing I miss most about the Tillis gig...Heck what am I saying....it's the ONLY thing I miss about the Tillis gig!!!

Glad to hear you learned all of mine and Bobby Whitten's twin parts!!! Just kidding. You are part playing King. Speaking of parts...if you forumites ever get to hear Terry with Ferlin Husky's band "The Hushpuppies" from way back when Moby Dick was a minnow, you will see what I mean about him being the "part" King. He and Jimmy Capps have some really cool stuff worked up. Once upon a time Terry was thinking about re-distributing that old album. I know he was thinking about it 'cause he gave me a copy on CD. You might have to talk to him about that.

"T"...I love ya brother!!!! And I miss seeing you in Branson. You know...you do have children right here in my neighborhood. You need to start visiting them more often. Make sure I'm home though when you do, which is hardly never.

Keep in touch and take care of yourself!

TS

Fred , Danny, Mike and Billy Easton. Thanks for coming to the show. It is so great to see and talk to friends that you don't get to see often enough. I look forward to seeing all of you at the show in Mesa this coming January.

Tim Sergent, Hey did you lose my phone number you turkey. I sure do miss you coming to Branson with Mel. But I thank you for leaving, that way I got my job back for the 3rd, (yes I said 3rd) time.
You know what? After being gone for three years, nothing really changed that much, except Bobby Whitton came back, Chuck Landry came back, Al Weir came back, Brian Sterling is coming back in January, and Chuck's brother Wade is coming to work also in January. You know what? I guess things did change a little. Bobby Whitton is one of my all time FAVORITE players, and he never gets in your way when you are playing, man he is the greatest.
Now back to that phone number, 417-335-2088.
I'm coming to Nashville around the 21st of December. I still have your phone number, so I will call you when I get there.
Love you brother Tim,
I have the old Hushpuppy band album on CD if anyone wants one. E-mail me your address and $15.00 and I'll send you one.
Terry

I went and saw Terry and Mel Dec 3rd when They were in Reno. I was trying to meet up with Terry, but I had some trouble at home and couldn't get there early enough. By the time I checked into the hotel, I barely had time to shower and get to the show.

It was an awesome show. Truly what a country show should be. All band members dressed alike and looking professional, not the sloppy bums you see on stage these days.

Sorry I missed you Terry.

Gosh Terry, I'm sure wanting to E-MAIL you $15.00, but I don't know which buttons to push. Is "Curtain Call" on the C D? And did Duane Brown come to see you in Reno. I emailed him, Telling him you would be there, and he responded that he was sure going to try to see you there.
You probably don't remember the first time I met you in Mels office in Nashville during the 1973 D J Convention, Fan Fair, CMA Awards show, and Steel Guitar Convention. (They used to have the whole she-bang at one time) You were in the studio room, along with Jim Buchanan, and some of the other band members. Later, I was playing six nights a week in Lubbock, Tx. at the "Cow Palace" when you, and the band came with Mel to play a one nighter. You played Steel, and a Telecaster. You really inspired me then, and also again when you were with John Wills in Las Vegas at the Barbary Coast. You showed me how to get that "Grady Martin" tone. (I never did find another "Memory Man".) You're one of my all time FAVORITE guitar players. (as well as your steel playing) Your fills say more in seven notes than most can play in 700. "Less is More"

Let us know if you ever get close to Fort Worth, Texas. & Lets have the address where to send the money, and I'll order the CD.
Best Regards, Chuck Cusimano

Chuck,
All I can say is DAHHHHH.
The address is
Terry Bethel
P.O. Box 1108
Hollister, MO 65672
I had a nice but all too short visit with Duane and Jim. We left right after the show and headed back to Branson.
Chuck my memory of the 70's is very hazzy to say the least. Too many miles and too many partys. I did enjoy working with John Wills though. That was the only job I ever had that lead guitar was what I was hired to play. The steel was secondary. I lived too hard in those days though, but through the Lords intervention I am still here and very thankful.
To all of you that came out for coffee I thank you, to those that couldn't make it, maybe next time.

Terry Bethel... One of my favorites, one awesome player and cat. I wish you folks with Tillis would get up this way when I wasn't out playing so I could could see you my friend.

Terry, your cd is one of my top, favorites but "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" should be placed in the Smithsonian Institution and played over the PA system for it's pedal steel guitar musicianship in my opinion. Simply fantastic man... the whole cd is truly awesome. You and the rest of the guys play wonderfully on all the cuts.

Have a great Christmas man. I hope we cross paths in '06.

Your pal,
Chris "Tiny" Olson
