Man, that was a dang tasty break, wasn't it? Nothing fancy, but boy howdy, it fit the song perfectly.

One of my favorite steel breaks by one of my favorite steel players, and one of my favorite singers.

You stirred my interest so I had to get a copy of "Going Where The Lonely Go".
Wal-Mart had Merle Haggard . The Hits for about $8. 16 songs with 12 #1 hits.
Great deal!! Does Norm do all of Merle's steel work in the studio?
He is a great one for sure!

I'm fairly sure that Norm has done ALL (live and studio) of the steel work for Merle since the late 60's. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, please?

Rodney;
To my knowledge, the early recordings featured Ralph Mooney. Norm played on almost all of the recordings since the late 60's. There are a few exceptions, though. A few MCA albums in the 80's had Buddy Emmons, (I'm Always on a Mountain, My Tribute to Elvis and Ramblin' Fever.) Norm may have been on them, too, I'd have to dig out the LP's to re-listen.
