Started playing Steel Guitar 20 years ago today

I got my first Steel Guitar 20 years ago today. It was a Sho-Bud Maverick. Boy was I excited! I was only able to learn the basics because it didn't have alot underneath. Within a year I got a Nashville built Fender/Sho-Bud S-10. It had 4 knee levers so I could actually learn to play.
I've probably had 10 or 12 Steels since those days but it's been a long & exciting journey. I've enjoyed it tremendously. Now as I see the excitement my wife Linda is having (since she's decided to take it up) it really makes me look back at the past and feel proud. Below are some pictures of my first 2 guitars. . .I hope you'll enjoy them as I celebrate my 20th anniversary with Steel Guitars. Nick

This picture was made in 1985. I paid $200 cash for that Maverick (notice the home-brew Steel Guitar Seat made out of Milkcrates) High Budget Stuff!

This Fender/Sho-Bud is one Guitar I should have kept!

Congratulations Nick on the 20 years of picking. My question is did you return those milk crates back to the company? I used to use them to place my amp on but I could not tell you what ever happened to them.

i know the feeling... i started about 35 years ago on a fender 2000 "that's a d-10 w/ ten pedals, no knee levers". and it was by accident... but what an accident it was. i wish it happened earlier...

..Nick, the volume pedal in that picture looks like something you use to pump up an inner tube...that Maverick wasn't an inflatable guitar, was it?..
