My name is Tyler Hall. I am 18 years old, and have been playing steel for about 4 years. I have played music all of my life, but when I heard a steel I was hooked.
I play a D-10 Fessenden, but also have 2 custom built SD-10's, built by Mr. Lucky Carter. Maybe, one of these days I'll be able to play like Emmons, Hughey, Hicks or even Max Williamson!

Welcome to the forum Tyler. It's nice to see the younger generation interested in the Steel Guitar. You are part of it's future!

Thanks guys. I play about every-other week. I used to play every weekend, but I started college this Fall, and I quit my regular job. I played piano in a gospel group since I was about seven, but we quit playing.
I'm not in a band, but there are some jobs around that don't have steel players, so if I want to set in with them, they let me. But I don't get paid, so I just play when I want to.
I miss plaing regular, but the sooner I get out of school, the sooner I get to Nashville.

Welcome, Tyler.
My, my, how different, and much smarter, is this younger generation. Who would of thought of getting a decent education before running off to play music.
Next, you'll be telling us that you plan to be married before you have children!
Seriously, it sounds like you're doing life the right way. Keep up the good work, and great success to you in the future.
Les

I apprieciate all the resopnse. If my steel pickin' career works like I plan, I may not even get married. I don't know a lot of women that love, like, or even tolerate the steel. I've lost girlfriends to music, but I would rather play music. Charles, there's nothing wrong with being nutty, as I've been called a lot worse! Usually after I finish a turnaround, I get called several names. None of which I will repeat.

Hello Tyler. I like where your E lowers are. I had it on my universal, sometimes I miss it on my d-10. Good luck with the schooling first, smart move. Wish I had been that smart.

Thanks for all the nice words. I'm from Montevallo, just south of Birmingham, but I have known Max for a while. Between Max, Jack Williams, and Ted Crabtree, I'm surrounded by great steel pickers!
I appreciate all of the hospitality, and I feel right at home. Thanks again.
