I was doing a little channel-surfing and, during a glimpse of a CMT show, I was lucky enough to catch Skaggs (vintage 1980s, I'd have said) doing 'Highway 40 Blues'.
It was one of those frustrating compilation programmes when they cover up the solos with inane and ego-massaging quotes from would-be celebs, but playing in the background was a film clip of a live performance of this terrific song. It looked like a very young Paul Franklin (playing a 'Franklin', too); did anyone else see this, and can you confirm it was, indeed, Paul?
I thought Ricky Skaggs was just the BEST at this point in his career.

Yes, I know Bruce played on the record and was his steel player at that time - this wasn't Bruce, though - way too much hair !
Thanks for the confirmation, Billy.

I saw that show and realized it was Paul because of the Franklin in the clip. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10 |
