Hi everybody,
Two good friends (musicians & steel lovers) will be in NYC next week, from oct 21 till 29. Do you have any suggestions of gigs not to miss? Country, rockabilly, rootsy or other interesting stuff? Maybe you play yourself with a band somewhere on Manhattan or in Brooklyn? Please let me know, so I can let them know.
All the best from Amsterdam, thanks,
Roland

Roland,
The only gig I have that week as of now is a country gig at Hank's in Brooklyn on the 23rd. I'm not sure its a gig not to miss though. Its a dive bar with a band that plays everything to fast. There is a pile of gigs that are looming that week. So I'll keep you posted.
Have your guys contact me and I'll point them at some great places.

Great Bob, thanks. That sounds indeed like a gig not to miss to me ). Are you still playing at Waikiki's sometimes?
(Actually I was going to join my friends on their trip, but I finally had to cancel that. Maybe next time!)

Ahoi, Roland,
Sorry you are not coming over too. I am only 2 hours from NYC and play about every weekend.
Next time, OK?
Groetjes,
Chris |

Deleted because I thought next week meant earlier in the week. I do have a show on Tuesday the 18th at the Gershwin Hotel... [This message was edited by Gerald Menke on 14 October 2005 at 12:40 PM.] |

I'll be playing steel at the Rodeo Bar (27th st. and 3rd Ave,in Manhattan) on the 20th, with the Reckon So Band. Country and Honky tonk.
Also, on the 31st, (but you will be gone) with The Western Caravan, featuring "Thirsty Dave". Western Swing and Honky Tonk.
Always a good time at the Rodeo Bar. No cover. |

I will be playing steel and probably dobro with a very talented songwriter named Justin Tracy at the Rockwood Music Hall, at 11 PM on Thursday, Oct. 27. The Rockwood is a very cool intimate venue with killer sound, located at
196 Allen Street
New York City
212.477.4155
between E. Houston and Stanton
take the F and or V subway to 2nd ave, walk east to Allen and then south just a few meters. Check out some of Justin's music here:

For the REAL studio nuts, the preamp for the main vocal mic is a Manley Vox Box, unbelievable sound!!
Would love to meet some of our Forum friends if their schedule allows. Admission is free, by the way.
Best,
Gerald
