At the NTSGA Nashville Jam 2005 we were really impressed with this young man. He's from Kansas.Mo
He didn't take a back seat to anyone.
If this is the caliber of players we can expect to be our next generation, we are in somewhat good hands !!
I really enjoyed his playing and after speaking to his grandmother, I know he will be a great player as he advances into the musical scene of Country Music and perhaps other types of the Pedal Steel Guitar field as well.

Refreshing to me when I look in the mirror and see an old man that after 25 years and a few thousand gigs still can't play a self-convincing ride for "Working Man Blues", and know of people claiming world class status that can't kick off a I-IV-V-I "blind" intro after a half century...
Overall, my fondest feeling is that we, the older generation are in their hands.
And luckily, yes, there are a lot of them.
Some even in "paying" walks of life.
Best wishes for this young fella.
Maybe he'll be able to teach us much if we live long enough to learn and he's able to keep himself in the relative poverty of the Musical World with any degree of success..

The KSGA proudly claims Austin and Jerry as members. They played in Nashville and then drove to Baxter Springs, KS for our show on Sunday. Austin is a fine young man of 11. He comes from fine parents and grandparents.

Count on this very polite and brilliant 11 year old player to be the next kid wonder, I say this with all respect.
He came by my store and played for a couple of hours on a strange (to him)guitar. Astounding, personality is also wonderful, as is his mentor and grandfather that is also a great player.
This is only the first of what you will be hearing about this good playing young person.

Bill, Thanks for putting this picture on. Jerry and Austin had a BLAST!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope to do it again sometime. We are VERY PROUD of Austin. Thanks to everyone for all the nice things you are saying about Austin. He seems to be keeping his head on straight so far and I think he will continue to do so. The KSGA Show was a good one too. We were tired, but all the traveling this weekend was worth it. Ron, Thanks for telling everyone who and where Austin is from. I just now saw this post. We will see all you good folks at Barling Friday night. Donna |
