| She used to come to the steel guitar "shows", years before they ever grew up to be "conventions". I remember seeing her at the American Legion Hall down the road from Scotty's store back in the early '70s at one of his very first steel shows... Don't know if she ever came to one of the bigger "conventions", though... |

Look at how wide the pedals are spaced on that puppy.

I have a black D-10 Bolt-on PP Emmons 2876 that used to belong to Barbara. It has her name and SS number stamped into the under side of the body. It's a goody...IP

| In the early 60s when Barbara was building her chops on the steel, Norm Hamlet was working weekends in Southern California with the Farmer Boys. He would spend part of the weekend at the Mandrell house helping Barbara advance her learning the steel. She has publicly thanked him many times for the world to know, how much his influence made her the steel player she became. |

I have a fourteen string Sho-Bud that was made for Barbara when Julian Tharpe was playing for her.
It is identical to Julian's but with the name Barbara on the front apron.
