Where Y'all playing this weekend?

Post by Michael Garnett »

Where's all the gigs at this weekend? I'll be playing Saturday night with the South Plains Playboys for a live radio show at the Gem Theater in Claude, TX. This show will touch on the hispanic influences on Western Swing.

Should be great fun, so where are y'all playing?

Aurora and Springfield, Mo. Senior Citizen Dance. The first time I played one of these, I thought our music was real loud because everyone there was sticking their fingers in their ears... Didn't take me long to see they were all adjusting their hearing aids.

The gig in Claude went just great, without too many major hitches. Plus I got home to my brand spankin new (used) Hilton pedal sitting on the front porch! Too bad I'm too tired to set up the guitar and try it out tonight... that'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Well, I lied. It's a quarter to four and I'm still up messing with it. Wow I love this thing...
[This message was edited by Michael Garnett on 18 September 2005 at 01:37 AM.]

Well I will be playing multiple sets at the Koh Samui Music Festival,
this weekend and into next weekend.
http://www.kohsamuimusicfestival.com

I have heard there is a $2 million+ budget for this festival.

Plus we are host band for the " un-official" all night jams
at our regular friday night gig spot.
Everybody playing knows, but it ain't advertised,
word of mouth should more than fill the place.

I will have my new Sierra S-14 there to jam on.
It JUST arrived in Bangkok this am, and is clearing customs now.
(Fedx this AM : "Hello Mr. David, is this an acoustic or electric guitar???"...
they have NO CLUE here.. Image )

On the main stage the 25th we play with
Jasco, T-Bone, Modern Dog, Fong Naam and Sek Loso

On main stage the 29th
Zakiya Hooker (John Lee's daughter), Chris James, Preservation Hall (New Orleans finest,
can't wait to hear them), Flamenco Dancers, British Blue All Stars,
(with Peter Green founder of Fleetwood Mac!!)

On main stage Oct 2nd with
Emma Louise & Dusk Til Dawn ( local soul/blues singer), Junkie Brewster,
The Wailers, (yep, Bob's old band with Ziggy and Rita), UB 40 (a super act too)

On the smaller club stage we will play with a curious mix of :
Friday 23rd ;
Emma Louise & Dusk Til Dawn, Thai Puppet Theatre, Flow (my band),
Funkin Around ( from S. Amererica), Soi Dog Blues Band,
Lonnie Brooks ( Blues Brothers 2000 film), Canned Heat ( welcome to back to Haight Ashbury)

The locasl bluesy show Mon 26th
Funkin Around, Black Theatre Prague, Flow, Soi Dog Blues Band,
Cannonball ( our good buddy Keith on the keys and vocals)...
Ike Turner ( Yep Tina's ex )

On Tues 24th
Funkin Around, Black Theatre Prague, Flow,
Cannonball, T-Bone.... Big Brother & The Holding Company
(yes Janis Joplin's 1st band. Haight Ashbury again)

Friday the 30th
The Strollers, Flow, Cannonball, Cannonball (2nd set), Jasco, T-Bone (big band)

Sat 1st Oct
The Strollers, Dusk Til Dawn, Funkin Around, Flow,
Chris James ( super blues picker),
British Blue All Stars Peter Green and Friends

It will be a BUSY 10 days for sure.
Plus 10 nights till dawn hosting the jam,
with who ever pops in to pick.

The Bangkok Post said that 2 members of the Grateful Dead will be sitting in with my band... too our great surprise.
Well they are welcome anyway. LOL

We hope especially that Steve Cropper from the Blues Brothers,
and Peter Green will stop in.
But with so many great pickers in town, it could be a LOT of fun,
till 6 am and beyond.
We have 24 / 10 permission from the cops to play.
[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 18 September 2005 at 07:41 PM.]
