Wade I don't have one at this time. But I have had an EMCI in the past, and wasn't smart enough to hang on to it. Would like to own another one MCI or EMCI. They have great Tone. Mike Cass use to play an EMCI and sounded Great, But then Mike would sound good on anything he Played. |

I have a MCI D-10 Serial # 4002 great guitar and has a wonderful sound. Lawrence 705's make the difference.BE was playing this guitar at the convention in 86 I believe and I obtained it from the original owner. He never learned to play it and it sat in his music room for eighteen years.
This is the third MCI I have owned and should have kept them all. |

I had to let mine go a while ago to help a friend out, but it was a fantastic guitar. It had BL 705s and tone to die for. |

Klaus, The Range Expander has the welded aluminum end plates doesn't it? Great sounding guitars. |

I got a new D10 MCI Rangexpander in 1986 and played that guitar up until a few months ago when I sold it to one of my students - it was a great pedal steel and served me very well over the years (Yes it had the welded frame)
I changed the original Barcus Berry pickups to GL 10-1 on E9th and GL E-66 on C6th.

Steve! You are correct.
This guitar is build in a way, that convinces me that you could put it flat on an even surface and have a truck run over it without more damage than string-breakage.
I must admit that I was suspicious as I first saw it, being an almost all-metal guitar, but that was just until I heard it

I have an EMCI that had Barcus Berry's on it, but I found that the C6th. PU was extremely bassy. Anyone else notice that? |

My single 10 E9 has a Barcus Berry PU as well.
I noticed that the pickup seems quite bassy, but figure that the guitar itself, due to it's "all metal" (with the top as an exeption) construction will be quite strong in the treble. Maybe the PU evens things out somewhat ???

I have a MCI that says MCI by Carter on the front. It is 8 and 8 or 9 and sounds just like my Emmons push pull(66) and plays very easy and has compensaters. It plays better than I can play.I never thought much about MCI steels one way or the other till I got this one.It is a verygood steel guitar. It has 705s on it but sound just like an Emmons with single coils. thanks lakeshrk |

I have a D-10 EMCI RX5000 that I put BL 710s on and I am extremely happy with this guitar. It plays great, sounds great, it's weight isn't too bad for a D-10 and it is very easy to maintain. During the same time that I've owned this guitar I've traded away a Kline S-12 and (just recently) I sold the D-10 Emmons that a friend gave to me to either buy for myself or sell. I can't see me ever getting rid of the EMCI. |

I've never owned an MCI or EMCI, however; the smoothest playing PSG that I've ever played on was an MCI that a friend brought to my home in the mid-’80's, even though the pull-rods were held onto the bellcranks by rubberbands!

The EMCI I had did have the rubber o-rings holding the pull rods to the bell crank also. And at the time I wasn't to crazy about the ideal. But now that I think back on it,it wasn't a bad ideal. With the rubber o-rings there where no tools needed.Just slip them on and off. A lot better than fighting with those e-clips,and having to chase them all around the guitar when you drop them.At least in my case anyway. |

And they're fairly easy to find at your local auto parts shop. I've really been amazed and pleased by the engineering of this guitar and it's tone and sustain. I'd played them before but it's different when you have some time to play them with your rig. I'm looking for things to dislike on it and they ain't there! |
