I wanted to post this because I know Johnny would not do this himself. I'm very proud to let everyone know that you're going to take a double take when you see him next time. He has lost a total (so far ) of 53 lbs (since June 20th) and looks and feels great. Looks like we're going to have to go buy new clothes that will fit him better to go to St. Louis next week (western clothes, that is )
He has been through quite a lot since his surgery (gastric bypass on June 20, 2005). He's had some complications that were no fault of his own, and a few admissions back into the hospital. But is now doing great, and is off all blood pressure and blood sugar medicine for good. I can't tell you how proud I am of him and his efforts. He has made some changes that he will be following the rest of his life relating to his eating habits and in exercise. It's amazing what a person can do with determination. He looks so different, (he shaved off his moustache last week, and looks 10 years younger!) So those of you going to St. Louis next week, be sure and come see us in the MSA room and for our sets on Saturday night. Looking forward to seeing everyone in St. Louis.
Joan

I was with Johnny at Hal's funeral last week. Johnny looks great.
And if you don't have the new Mike Siler album with Johnny playing steel, you are missing the boat.
Way to go!! I lost 42 lbs early last year myself so I know how tough it can be and, how rewarding! It gets eaiser to maintain as time goes buy...Im now a slim 5'8" and 145lbs and got to go out recently and by new "cowboy" clothes for playing gigs! Love it and Love them Scully shirts!! Congrats and keep up the good work.Once you get used to eating a new way its pretty easy!! See ya ,Tiny!

Good news about Johnny, I played the ETSGA
last Sunday and they said you and Johnny would be there next month..those are really nice people over in Tyler and I hope to get to come over and see the two of you play next month.
All the best to Johnny and his efforts. Loosing that much weight is life changing for sure. I personally lost 40 lbs since April of this year and still have 20 more lbs to go.
Congrats John
Anyone with determination can do it...anyone who can play a steel such as you has that determination...you just have to learn a bit about yourself...it is a choice of life style...that you are off blood pressure meds and dibetes is under control is wonderful news...now you and I will have to go to "Muscles"next garage sale for some duds that fit...
Way to go Dumpl>>, er Johnny. I know you will feel a lot better, I know cause I lost about #30, and the best part, I've kept it off. Hang in there, and keep on pushin back, and eatin right..
Hi Johnny and Joan, I am sorry that I will not be in St. Louis this year. I will be home in Minnesota visiting friends and family, and am glad to hear about Johnny's weight loss. Great going, and hope to see you both again in Dallas in March. Keep up the good work Johnny, and I am sure that Joan will keep you on the straight and narrow.
Way to go Johnny!!!!!!!! Sure was good to see you at the Steel Guitar Meeting a couple of weeks ago. Instead of calling you "Dumplin" , we're going to have to start calling you "Skinny" and rightly so. KEep up the good work. SOrry I won't be able to see you and the misses ion St. Louis but I will be ther in "Spirit" when You play Roly-Poly during yer set for me HA! Will look forward to seeing you at the next meeting if not sooner and especially in March, next year.

If it don't have a Steel, it ain't real!
Joan, I'm so glad you started this thread. I was so astounded at how well Johnny looked Sunday in Abilene, but I didn't want to put it on the web. He really looks great and the two of you and Junior surely gave us what we came for. You're great people and we love you guys to pieces. Keep up the good work, both of you...

I talked to Johnny yesterday because they are about to string up my new Double 8 Superslide and ship it off and he needed to know the tunings: more on that on Non Pedalers when it arrives.
Johnny sounded great. (but not as good as my new Double 8 is going to sound!)
Way to go Johnny! It takes a STRONG will power but I'm bettin' my $ on you!! Thanks Joan for keeping us all informed. Best regards to you both, and, when are we gunna git to pick again???....I'm ready!
That is great news! I have a sister who has struggled with her weight, and I know how hard it can be on a person's self esteem, not to mention their health. Good luck!
Joan-Thanks for posting the good news about Johnny. I am proud of him and you both for getting through this. I have Johnny's CD and he is a great steel player, so you both stay healthy from now on, ok?....al
Hey Joan,
Just wanted to say Amen to your post. Johnny looked great, and you both sounded great Sunday. I have heard nothing but WoW from everyone that attended. Thanks again for everything.
Well I guess congratulations BIG JOHN would be a little off? Congratulations Johnny, my daughter lost about 80 lbs last year thru the lap band procedure. She looks great and feels better. I am sure you do as well. Hope to see you in Tyler next month, if not Dallas in March. Keep it up.
