Hi folks. I got my new guitar the other day, a 66 (I think) Stringmaster, D6. I used it for the first time on a gig last weekend, and it sounded great. The pedalsteel gonna get some rest now!! Found it on ebay for a good price. Looks just like new, even has the keys to the look on the case.

I would like to make a D7 out of a D6, I'm just a seven string nut. |

Bill, I play a 6-string (Sierra - fabulous sound)and have tried an 8 - but too many strings. But since I've moved to C6/A7, I sometimes want a seventh string underneath to give me a bottom A. Do you just re-cut the nut and bridge and squeeze 'em up a bit? |

Making a 7 out of a 6 would require replacing the nut(s) and bridge(s),and they were very hard on my Fender, like case hardened or heat treated. So,you would have to make new parts, have new pickups wound, and modify the tuner pans. Not really something most folks would would want to do to a nice guitar, unless they were capable of all the mods without a trace asthetically. |

Thanks for the coments. I have a G (Dobro) tuning on the far neck and C6 on the close neck. If it had 8 strings on the C6 neck it would be perfect. The G-tuning is nice for overdriven slide stuff - gives a fat warm tone! |
