This is great to have a Steeler in space.
Personally, it is a special treat since I worked in the space program, at the Ascension Island tracking station and at Goodard Space Flight Center, on the Apollo and Skylab projects. |

Welcome home Steve and congrats on a job well done. We couldn't be prouder. Great to know that one of "Our" bunch was up there working on the Shuttle.
Really neat to know that you're a part of our steel community. You made history Steve. How cool is that. All the best.

Steve,
You have added a whole new 'dimension' to all of our "name dropping." And besides that, being in space when you were, you're about the only Forum member who didn't get dragged into the ET verses JI tuning thread.

Way to go Steve. Glad to have you back on the planet. Looks like you have some cool pics of yourself to put on the wall now. The pics of you doing the repair work on the shuttle was way beyond impressive. Looks like ya'll had a blast. Are you going back up any time soon?

I thought the "big one" was commencing till I remembered you guys got rained out down in Fla and that was probably the shuttle coming over my house on its way to Edwards AFB right up the road. Welcome home Steve. We are glad you made it back safely. We enjoyed watching your work on the NASA channel. So how do you like your new found Fame on the forum? I think I speak for everyone on this forum, when I say it is an honor to have you a part of the forum and a fellow steel player.
Dixie said you had better not have let any of those green people on the cd.

Hey Steve,
My Dad (rest his soul) was proud to have worked on the Saturn V.(with Boeing in New Orleans) And for myself a pro steeler for more than 20 years... you made me very proud. I know my 'old man' would think its really great.

Steve, you are truly the real hero here on this forum. You have my fondest respect, now and forever.
I can't tell you how much you you are admired. After what you have done my Beechcraft Bonanza seems pretty tame.
Did you have a flight attendent to serve coffee and peanuts? Or was this an economy flight? I notice you flew over most of the weather, I hope the baggage handelers didn't lose your steel guitar. Use the overhead rack?
Noticed that you landed in California, Took off from Flordia, you went over a million miles, wasn't there a shorter route?
What are you going to do now that you are back? I hear Garth is looking for a steel players again, Ha! Ha!

Bobbe, talk to Steve about advertising SGN on the side of the shuttle.
A color graphic on the shuttle's white background would jazz things up. |

For most steelers, sitting on stage at ISGC,
between Big E and Doug Jernigan
and swapping jazz licks is about as scary / brave an act as we can imagine...
But YOUR day gig puts that to shame.
Congratulations for going where no steeler has gone before.
