Hi Y'all:
After spending a year in Chicago, I am returning to the South, Lafayette, Louisiana in particular (the hometown of my fiancee). Anyway, I am eager to move, and I was wondering what steel players live in or around Lafayette or southern Louisiana, and what bands I should check out (Cajun, Zydeco, Country, whatever). Are bands looking for steel players down there? I hope so...

John,
By all means, you should look up and talk with Mr. Milton Guilbeau who lives in Lafayette. His name is in the phone book . He is one fine person and if there is anything to do with bands and Steel Guitar activities in that area, Milton will know of it / them .

John, there are several really good players
in this area. Mr. Guilbeau will be a good source as well as Roy Thomas. Richard Comeaux is an excellent player as will as Danny Comeaux. Peewee Whitewing is in the area and he is awesome. Jr. Martin and many others although I don't know exactly where they are playing.

Boy, you will be in steel guitar heaven there in Lafayette. Pee Wee Whitewing to name one, Buck Grantham next town over to name another and wait till you hear all the great players at Jr. Martin's Tuesday night jam. WOW. I am envious of your move..Best to you. Wish you were there already, because you could hear all those players at our "Louisiana Appreciation Day" celebration in Gulfport, Ms this weekend.
