I just want to thank Andy Volk for writing such a valuable book about lap steel. It surely was a labor of love and much appreciated. I have owned it for a couple of years now and still find myself going back to re-read chapters on a certain player or check out tunings.

Thanks Andy!

"Lap Steel Guitar" by Andy Volk is the bible of non pedal steel guitar. A wonderful timeless work - it has become the definitive reference. I get emails that say things like: "the lap steel guitar book by Andy V. it's on page 235 (on right in ad - middle guitar)".
My only reservation is that I'm not in it. But who knows, maybe a future edition . . .

A labor of love it was. I learned a lot from doing the interviews and from the process ... such as never, never run global spellcheck changes AFTER a book is already proofed. It took 11 months and countless hours but I'm truly humbled by the number of people who've written and emailed me to praise the book. You can't know how much I appreciate your comments. Thanks!

Hey Andy -- how could I get a copy of your book, and... have it signed by the author???

Would I have to buy it first, send it to you, then have you send it back, or can I purchase from you direct? If so, could I do that via PayPal?

Thanks!

Man, I just realized something. The blonde 52 Custom tripleneck on pg 247 -it's right here in my studio!
The scratches & scuffs are very distinctive and identifiable.
I bought it from Chris Schlotzhauer about a year ago.

Here is one of my pics of it . .

It's a great guitar, definitely worthy of being on pg 247 . .

You defintely have a gem in that old Fender, Rick. I miss it. Looks like it's gone through a few owners since I sold it to Bobbe. Nice to know it's found a good home. Did you get the original "Swingin' Troubadors" case?

Yes I did Andy - a cool piece of music history if ever there was one.

It's a great guitar - so much character!
You're welcome to come and visit it any time. Just turn right at Guitar Center and it's the last house at the end of the street . .

Yeah...this is really a great book!!! Just reading this thread last night made me dig it out & reread a couple sections. I think a second edition would be welcome Andy(HINT-HINT).
I would like to see a picture book of laps sent in by all the members of this forum. Now that would be a coffee table book at my house. Talk about some beautiful instruments.

That would be one heck of a book - the perfect companion volume to Lap Steel Guitar. I have enough pictures of laps & consoles to fill 2 or more books, and I'd be happy to contribute them to such a worthy enterprise.
