I saw the Sho~Bud that Hal was playing
on the show last night.It was a Sho~Bud
cross over. I saw the trip lever.It is a Bud
like I have. [in storage] You would'nt
know by the way he handled it.
Just kind of surprised to see him on that Bud.

I also saw that re~run on RFD~TV! That model was called the Sho~Bud Baldwin~Model. Not the first model. The earliest models had complete wooden~necks, with the changer, bridge and P/U set in wood. They soon went to the model with the Professional~style Aluminum P/U–Bridge Plate which greatly improved the sustain of the Baldwin~Model. I didn't keep my Original~Model very long, because of the lack of sufficient sustain! Returning to the Pro. Aluminum Tail~Piece solved that problem fast!

It's fun to watch those old programs. I got a kick out of how young he, and Buddy Spicer were. And it's amazing how much (at certain angles) Teddy Wilburn looks like Merle Haggard, and Jim Ed Brown.

Pretty raw mix, but I love to watch 'em! Wish there were more like them on T.V.

thant The SHO~BUD cross-over was built
in an early and late model.Mine is a 77 or78
Mine is a pretty good steel. Holds tune good.
I reverst the necks and could use the blank
racks for knee levers.Also it was cast for
the F lever all you had to do was add it.
Good steel but to heavy.Thanks again John.

Lee,
I may be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure Sho~Bud quit making the crossover models back in the 60's. Are you positive on that year model? Please don't think I'm trying to be a wiseguy or anything, but the dates just seemed odd to me.

I owned at least 12 or 13 Sho~Buds between ’57 and ’79, but; not every model! I do know that in ’66/’67 Sho~Bud was still building the ‘Finger~Tip’ Model. I think after that came the Baldwin Cross~Over Model with Total-Wood from the Nut to behind the Bridge. By the end of ’69, they were already using the Professional-Style P/U-Plate, because; I already had my 2nd. one of that model when I went to L.A. in Nov. of ’69. I stayed in L.A. until Nov. ’70, so any model~change after ’69 is not familiar to me until ’71.
The only thing I can say is that IMHO the only undesireable Sho~Bud model was the Original Baldwin Cross~Over w/All~Wood Necks. It seems that design robbed the guitar of it's Sustain! JMHO! All~Wood doesn't seem to hurt the non-pedal all that much!

Lee-About that sore back. All you need is a S10 Sho-Bud Pro 1 with 6 pedals and 5 knee levers.

Only 33 lbs all setup out of the case and that is the way I carry it in my Van.

These are great old guitars. You could make it easier on yourself by using two cases. One for the rods, pedal bar and legs.

That is a good way to go and still keep that easy playing Sho-Bud tone.......al
