1940's - steel w/ big band?

Post by John Rosett »

the other day, i heard a song on the radio that had steel guitar with a big band. it sounded like it was from the 40's or so. it was great! the steel player had phrasing like a horn player. unfortunately, i couldn't wait 'til the dj said who it was. anybody got an idea who it was, and where i can hear more?
thanks, john

Alveno Rey, according to Bobby Seymour was the father of the pedal steel. He also developed the talking guitar gizmo used by
some guitarists. Pete Drake used a diffent approach to get the same sound.
Several years ago one of the members of this forum promised me Alvino's phone number but I never did receive it.

Gary-I had Alvino's Phone number as he didnt want to Email.

Once when he called me, he told me not to give it out. So I respected that.

Even thought he lived a full life, I still can't believe he is gone......al Image
