Alex,

Yes there are several of us on, that is from AR.

I live in Bryant and am a bass player, but I just bought a SD10 GFI and am going to give a try at learning.

Hey guys. Dick, the club scenes alright here these days. i feel like im the only pedal steel player so im getting a lot of gigs. There lots of indie rock here so im playing the steel in a different setting than just country music. It got me a tour in england wich was cool.
Mike, were pretty close. Im in little rock. We should get together sometime and pick each others brains.

Welcome aboard Alex. Meant to do that in my reply to your string breakage post, but I'll do it here instead. This place is a wealth of knowledge on steel guitar, and a lot of good folks too. It's a rare question somebody can't answer - [Edited to add: that is, if there is an answer! You'll find we don't always agree on things. ]

Hi, Alex

Welcome and enjoy. The forum is great. I live in Conway (that is, I will when my contract with the school system in Harrison is up in July) but right now, I spend most of my time in Harrison. There are several pickers around, Jack Kondora, Bob Estes in Harrison, Robert Jones in Conway, to name a few.

I'm not too familiar with the pickers in and around Little Rock but I would be glad to share what I know (which won't make you a "professional" but a pretty good "amature" -what ever that means). I believe that one of the great steel players, Rudy Osdorne, is in the area, also a fellow steel player, Robert Jones, lives in Conway. I have'nt heard Robert play but my gut feeling is that he is good.
