Talking about names not being mentioned on the forum...."Deacon Anderson" was influential on many top steel records of today. When I hear Weldon doing his thing I hear Deacon Anderson sounds. What a great player of days gone by!

"The Deacon" was an influence on any one that plays swing. A real nice guy and a good friend. Jody.

After my Air Force tour I worked many, many shows with Deacon in the mid sixties. Deacon was and still is a great swing player as was mentioned in a previous post. Deacon was playing a National six string steel with an A-6th tuning and for the record he is still playing this same guitar and tuning today. Can you imagine the history in that steel guitar.
I last worked with Deacon at the TSGA 2004 show in Dallas and he still amazed me with his speed and technique.

I took my first steel guitar lessons from his brother-in-law in the mid 1940's during the time he was writing Rag Mop. I maintained contact with him and his family over the years. As Roy and Jody said, a great musician and friend. www.billchaviers.com
