Does Randy have a `regular` steeler and if so who? or does he use different ones on different cuts?
Asking because I have been listening to his music and have been hearing some great steel on them.
Thanks

There have been several steel players on Randy's records...Doyle Grisham,Paul Franklin,Sonny Garrish,Dan Dugmore,Buddy Emmons,Gary Carter...The only one I played on is the live one-"For the First Time"...

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the correction, I guess you 're right.
I have the DVD "Live it was just a matter of time" and I like it a lot.

Cheers,
Manfred

A couple of years ago I saw a TV biography of Randy Travis and in some performance footage there was a youngish guy, sort of blond curly hair, maybe a perm, playing a Sho-Bud (not a perm). Who dat?

Back in his pre-Nashville days Randy (Traywick) was playing a house gig in Charlotte, NC called Country-City USA with a great Pedal Steel player by the name of Rick Lisk. I have an original session recording of Randy's band with Rick Lisk on Steel. Very Cool.

I remember seeing a TV broadcast of a tribute concert for John Lennon (I think) with Randy Travis doing a version of "Nowhere Man" with an afro-american guy on steel (solo).
I remember it because I found it quite unusual. In retrospect I believe it might have been Robert Randolph. Any guesses?

Randy gave a concert in The Netherlands, I guess it must be 15 years ago. At that time Terry Crisp was playing in his band!
